Nannup history

Why Nannup?

Nannup's history prior to European settlement is reflected by many of the geographical names in the district; Darradup (place of Parrots), Jalbarragup, Barrabup and many more.

The word "Nannup" is an indigenous word identifying a "stopping place", so Nannup's reputation as a desirable place to gather, and share with friends, goes back a long way.

Nannup Today:
Nannup TulipsNannup is known as the "The Garden Village" and every August sees the presentation of the Nannup Flower and Garden Festival. This dazzling festival includes the Daffodil and Tulip weekends, when the village streets are alive with tulips and daffodils and many associated artistic activities are organised, including the annual Nannup Art and Photography Exhibition, gardening and floricultural workshops and many other creative activities.. A "Must Do" for all keen gardeners and botanical photographers.

November is when the roses bloom and the Regional Rose Festival gives proud growers the opportunity to display the spectacular rewards of their efforts. Workshops, demonstrations and fabulous displays ensure a fitting celebration of spring in the South West.

During wildflower season, the surrounding countryside comes alive with colour and atmosphere, perfect for bushwalking, touring, canoeing or just kicking back and enjoying the peace and tranquility.

Select from a wide range of accommodation options catering from the friendly comfort of backpacking retreats to the grandeur of luxury country lodges. Sit back with a good wine and look up at night... you'll remember the wonder a clear sky used to spark.

Nannup MusicOver the March Labour day long weekend holidays, Nannup Plays host to the Nannup Music Festival. Both international and local artists have placed this event on their calendar as a "must do".
